Privacy Policy

AIBlack ("we", "our", "us") publishes the Tidewise mobile application (the "App"). Tidewise predicts tides, and shows wind, wave and weather conditions, for sea fishing. This policy explains exactly what the App does with your information.

The short version

• We operate no servers for this App and we receive no data from it.
• There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDK.
• Your saved fishing spots and settings stay on your device.
• Your coordinates are sent to two third parties only to answer a request you made: a weather service, and Apple's map services.

1. Location

If you allow it, the App uses your location while you are using it for two purposes: to choose the tide station nearest to you, and to request the weather and sea state for that point. Location is never collected in the background.

You can refuse or withdraw this permission at any time in iOS Settings. The App remains fully usable without it: you can pick any spot on the map or from the station list instead.

2. Information sent to third parties

The App makes network requests to the following services. It sends them no identifier, no device ID and no account — only the coordinates or text needed to answer the request.

• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) receives the latitude and longitude of the spot you are viewing, in order to return the weather, wind, wave and sea-level forecast for it. See their privacy statement at open-meteo.com/en/terms.
• Apple receives map, place-search and reverse-geocoding requests when you open the map, search for a place, or when the App turns your coordinates into a place name. This is handled by Apple's MapKit and CoreLocation frameworks and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Tide predictions require no network at all. They are computed on your device from harmonic constants bundled with the App.

3. Information stored on your device

The following is kept locally and is removed when you delete the App:

• The fishing spots you save, and the spot currently selected.
• Your settings: theme, and whether the App locates you at launch.
• A cached copy of the most recent weather and sea-state forecast, so the App is useful offline.

None of this is transmitted anywhere.

4. What we do not do

• We do not create a profile of you, and we cannot: we receive nothing.
• We do not sell or share personal data. We hold none.
• We do not use advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics.

5. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.

6. Safety notice

Tide and weather figures in the App are predictions. Storm surge, local topography and changing weather can put the real water level and sea state well outside any forecast. Do not rely on the App alone for your safety on rocks, jetties, beaches or a boat.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date.
